FEAR OF GOD FOR ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA

I remember first hearing about Fear of God in an interview of August 2016. “He’s the designer for Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour”. I nodded and tried to make sense of luxury ripped jeans.

Fast forward to 4 years later, I can recognise “ESSENTIALS” from a distance, as well as those neutral suede and mesh sneakers. We also have one of the most exciting collaborations this year, or “spontaneous dialogue” as written in the press release. It’s an amalgamation of Italian sartorial excellence and Californian modern luxury.

The collection has been available since September 2020, and its aesthetics resonated in the recent SPRING 2021 MENSWEAR collection. Pieces include suits with lapels removed, suede loafers and a braided leather belt which is to be tied rather than traditionally fastened. There are also plenty of comfortable pieces, such as the silk trousers, cashmere hoodies and cotton blend crewneck jogger sets.

Ermenegildo Zegna’s Alessandro Sartori and Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo also designed this collection to be wearable for women, as apparent in FOG’s previous lookbooks. Though this collaboration felt like a turning point - a coming of age moment which is often unheard of in streetwear. It’s a conversation which feels very fitting to fill a 2020 closet. More comfort, more style.

p.s I still cannot get over Look 6 of the Seventh Collection
